Brazil: $345 million wind farm purchase approved by regulator

Brazilian competition authorities have approved the purchase of two wind farms located outside of Sao Paulo by British investment firm Cubico, a world leader in renewable energy development.

    This is the company’s first business venture in Brazil. The purchase, valued at close to 2 billion Reals includes property and assets at the Caetés wind farm (182 MW capacity) and the Ventos deo Araripe 1 (210 MW) wind farms.

    Cubico, founded in London in 2015, is in charge of managing the renewable energy investments of three main clients- Banco Santander, th Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and PSP Investments. The new purchase gives Cubico control of over 615 MW capacity in Brazil, making it the third largest wind power producer in the country.
